Financial Services Career: Prior to focusing exclusively on commercial multifamily real estate, Roy had a distinguished financial services consulting career in executive leadership driving technology initiatives for leading financial services firms in investment management, wholesale banking and corporate trust focusing specifically on RMBS and CMBS servicing. Mr. Koppelmann’s financial services experience involved leading complex large-scale transformation and deployment initiatives where his leadership was instrumental in driving organizational change at top Fortune 100 financial services firms. He brings a disciplined approach to the investment opportunities that Accord considers.

Multifamily Real Estate – Enhancing Communities Through Redevelopment: Roy has built a portfolio of over 80 units in the Charlotte, NC MSA spread across several complexes. He holds a Commercial Real Estate Professional Certificate from MIT, has partnered with the City of Charlotte and been a recipient of a city grant for improvements on his Seigle Ave property, which the city featured in its quarterly newsletter highlighting difference-making projects in target economic enablement zones in the city.

He takes pride in the change brought about by his redevelopment efforts, which have driven measurable improvements in the now-prospering neighborhoods in Charlotte of Belmont and Washington Heights.

Roy has a long-standing relationship with his property manager – Blair Mauney – partner at SRP Property Management – with whom he shares a philosophy of integrity in management, delivery of value to tenants, market appropriate property improvements and gradual raising of rents to compensate ownership for strategic property upgrades.

General Contracting: To enhance his real estate investing, Roy acquired his General Contracting License: (Building Contractor NC Lic # 77219) and he owns and operates Accord Construction Group, LLC ( – based in Charlotte, NC. Its his view that owning and operating a general contracting firm is an ideal complement to his multifamily investment interests placing him in a position to understand the physical needs of his investments and to have the connections to address issues that may arise at the properties.
